Hello everyone! We hope your fall semester is off to a fantastic start. As we settle into the new academic year, the Hanlon Financial Systems Lab is pleased to bring you the first newsletter of the semester, sharing updates on our latest projects and accomplishments.

Welcome Business School Class of 2030

The Stevens School of Business is proud to welcome the Class of 2030, which includes 221 incoming students, plus 18 additional transfer students. These students represent 18 states and 7 countries. Business and Technology is the most popular major this year, with 65 students enrolled, followed by Quantitative Finance (60) and Finance (39).

All students, first-year, graduate, and beyond, are encouraged to visit the Hanlon Lab to support their academic and professional growth. If you have any questions, feel free to stop by and speak with our lab staff on shift or email us at fscadmin@stevens.edu.

2027 High Frequency Trading Competition (HFTC'27)

The annual Stevens High-Frequency Trading Competition returns in 2027! HFTC-27 challenges teams to design, code, and deploy high-frequency algorithmic trading strategies using SHIFT, a high-fidelity market exchange simulator developed by Stevens students under the guidance of Professor Ionut Florescu.

Competitors will test their algorithms against fellow participants, zero-intelligence bots, advanced reinforcement learning (RL) agents, and historical traders whose orders were placed in real markets. The competition offers hands-on experience with the strategies, technology, and real-world challenges of high-frequency trading.
