Hanlon FSC Newsletter Fall 2025

Hello everyone! We hope your fall semester is off to a fantastic start. As we settle into the new academic year, the Hanlon Financial Systems Lab is pleased to bring you the first newsletter of the semester, sharing updates on our latest projects and accomplishments.

Welcome Business School Class of 2029

The Stevens School of Business is proud to welcome the Class of 2029—271 new students—marking the largest incoming class in school history! These students represent 20 states and eight countries. Quantitative Finance once again welcomed a strong cohort with 78 students, while Business Technology and Finance enrolled 56 and 51 students, respectively.

All students—first-year, graduate, and beyond—are encouraged to visit the Hanlon Lab to support their academic and professional growth. If you have any questions, feel free to stop by and speak with our lab staff on shift!

Welcome New Lab Assistants

We are thrilled to introduce two new lab assistants joining the Hanlon FSC team this semester.

  • Peterson, from Sweden, completed his undergraduate degree in Financial Mathematics.
  • Riccardo studied Quantitative Finance at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Italy.

Both are pursuing their M.S. in Financial Engineering at Stevens and have already been great additions to the Web and Media team. We are excited to see their continued contributions to the lab this year.

High Frequency Trading 2026 Competition

The Annual Stevens High-Frequency Trading Competition returns for 2026! This event challenges teams to design, code, and deploy their own intraday trading strategies using the SHIFT platform.

All Stevens students are eligible to apply. Key dates include:

  • Application Deadline: February 1, 2026
  • Technical Assessment (for advancing teams): Following initial review
  • Final Notifications: February 20
  • Competition Period: March 27 – April 24
  • Awards Ceremony: May 1

We were thrilled to see the competition expand internationally last year, and we anticipate even greater participation this cycle. If you’re interested, be sure to submit your application early.
