The [UK Data Service (UKDS)](https://ukdataservice.ac.uk/?ref=fsc.stevens.edu) is a data service based in the United Kingdom providing access and support for an extensive range of key economic and social data, both quantitative and qualitative, spanning many disciplines and themes.

About UKDS (learn more [here](https://ukdataservice.ac.uk/about/?ref=fsc.stevens.edu)):

> "Pioneers in data curation and managing long-term access to high quality data, our expertise continues to transform social science research, teaching and learning."

> "Our [agile response](https://ukdataservice.ac.uk/about/beyond-covid-19/?ref=fsc.stevens.edu) to COVID-19 has enabled rapid research into the economic and social impacts of the pandemic, as we enabled access to the first datasets from Understanding Society in July 2020 and hosted an online COVID-19 data dive in October with researchers and policy makers across the UK and beyond."

The UKDS provides the following video tutorial to help new users learn about its [data catalog](https://beta.ukdataservice.ac.uk/datacatalogue/studies/?ref=fsc.stevens.edu#!?Search=&Rows=10&Sort=0&AccessFacet=Open&Page=1&DateFrom=440&DateTo=2022) search tool.

**In order to access data, Stevens students and faculty may need to register with the UK Data Service by requesting a username [here](https://beta.ukdataservice.ac.uk/myaccount/login?ref=fsc.stevens.edu) and then logging in.**

**Note from UKDS:* Requests for usernames are manually verified and can take up to 5 working days to process.*

You can also browse data by theme (e.g. ageing, COVID-19, crime), data type (e.g. UK Surveys, cross-national surveys, longitudinal studies), and country. Additionally, there are also several [online tools](https://ukdataservice.ac.uk/help/exploring-data/online-tools-for-exploring-data/?ref=fsc.stevens.edu) for exploring UKDS data.

In addition to searching for datasets, you can also [deposit data](https://ukdataservice.ac.uk/deposit-data/?ref=fsc.stevens.edu) in the UKDS, read [news](https://ukdataservice.ac.uk/news/?category=new-datasets&ref=fsc.stevens.edu) about new datasets, [learn](https://ukdataservice.ac.uk/learning-hub/?ref=fsc.stevens.edu) new data skills, and attend [training and events](https://ukdataservice.ac.uk/training-events/?ref=fsc.stevens.edu). Furthermore, the UKDS regularly updates a page detailing the [impact](https://ukdataservice.ac.uk/impact/?ref=fsc.stevens.edu) it has on the world.
